EU demands SpaceX restore full Starlink service in Ukraine

noticiasdenavarra.com (Spanish) —

The European Commission demanded Wednesday that SpaceX urgently restore full Starlink service in Ukraine, following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's reports of speed restrictions on the satellite internet network along the front lines with Russia. EU Defense spokesperson Thomas Regnier called the slowdowns "deeply concerning" and inconsistent with the company's previous service, stressing Kyiv needs the connectivity to keep soldiers linked and protect citizens. He urged SpaceX to restore complete service immediately. The EU acknowledged it cannot currently replace Starlink's capabilities, as noted by foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas. Brussels is developing its own IRIS2 satellite constellation, with Spanish participation, to enhance European connectivity and sovereignty.
