Musk reportedly ordered Starshield restrictions in Ukraine
Elon Musk is reported to have ordered restrictions on Starshield, the military version of the Starlink satellite network, which is vital communications infrastructure for Ukraine's military, according to the Wall Street Journal. The order, issued last week, imposed speed limits on Starshield terminals in Ukraine, hindering the effectiveness of some Ukrainian drones. The restrictions reportedly followed a phone call between Musk and President Donald Trump, and were discussed before being implemented. Ukrainian officials say terminals have malfunctioned when moving over 160 km/h since October 13, disrupting operations. The move comes amid rising US-Ukraine tensions, with Trump criticizing Kyiv, while Musk and the Pentagon deny responsibility for the restrictions.
