Zelensky mocks US envoy's praise of Putin after Russian missiles hit Kyiv
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy mocked US envoy Steve Witkoff's praise of Vladimir Putin as "a humanitarian" after Russian missiles killed two people and injured over 30 in Kyiv overnight. Russia launched more than 20 missiles at Kyiv, damaging residential buildings, energy facilities, and metro infrastructure across six districts, while Ukraine fired over 600 drones toward Moscow, injuring three. The attacks followed Witkoff's talks with Putin in St Petersburg, which yielded no concrete progress on resuming peace negotiations. Zelenskiy said the strikes proved "no real change" in Russia's attitude, as Kyiv pushed for an energy ceasefire ahead of winter. Ukraine's air force reported shooting down 181 of 210 drones but did not confirm missile intercepts, highlighting its shortage of anti-air missiles.
