Witkoff heads to St. Petersburg after talks with Zelensky in Norway
US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to St. Petersburg on Wednesday, October 21, following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Norway, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced on Tuesday, October 20. Støre said Witkoff will meet with Russian leadership to exchange views on the talks and proposals developed by European and American colleagues, potentially preparing the ground for a leaders-level meeting. The discussions in Norway covered Ukraine's security, post-war prosperity plans, territorial issues, sanctions, and the European security order after the war. Zelensky arrived in Oslo on Tuesday for negotiations with Norwegian officials and Western envoys. Witkoff's colleague Jared Kushner participated remotely due to illness. During the visit, Zelensky also had an audience with Norway's King Harald V.
