Ukraine Open to Ceasefire as Zelensky Signals Diplomatic Path to End War
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he would consider a ceasefire that freezes current front lines with Russia, calling it a realistic diplomatic path to ending the war, provided negotiations and security guarantees follow. Speaking on Fox & Friends on Wednesday, Zelensky said a halt along existing positions would be a starting point for talks with US President Donald Trump and European leaders, while rejecting any surrender of the Donbas region. He stressed that any agreement must protect Ukraine from renewed Russian aggression. Zelensky’s remarks followed talks with US envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo, who later met Russian President Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg. Russian officials said Putin agreed in principle to resume trilateral talks next month, as Trump pressures Kyiv to reach a deal.
