EU urges immediate full restoration of Starlink for Ukraine's defense
The European Commission has urgently called on SpaceX to fully restore Starlink services for Ukraine, expressing deep concern over reported limitations. The Commission stated this contradicts the company's previous policy and is critical for Ukraine's defense needs. Commission spokesperson Tom Rénye said Ukraine requires full connectivity for soldier communications, civilian protection, and drone operations. Speed restrictions to 161 km/h have rendered some Ukrainian attack and interceptor drones ineffective, while Russian jets now bypass defenses more easily. The disruption follows Washington's hardening stance toward Kyiv before US midterm elections. The EU plans its own satellite network of over 300 satellites, involving Ukraine. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth denied involvement, while reports suggest the order came from the Trump administration, which denies this.
