US envoy to visit Russia after Ukraine talks in Oslo
US envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Russia after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Oslo, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced Tuesday, as part of new diplomatic efforts to end the war. The Oslo talks, hosted by Norway and Finland, included discussions on security guarantees, territorial issues, sanctions, and post-war European security. Zelenskyy said Ukraine is ready for negotiations, while President Donald Trump pressures Kyiv, claiming Russia has the advantage on the battlefield. Witkoff is expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday. Trump also proposed a trilateral meeting with Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping on nuclear disarmament, potentially at November's APEC summit in Shenzhen.
