Russian lawmaker proposes Crimea venue for Putin-Trump-Xi summit
Russian lawmaker Mikhail Sheremet proposed holding a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, the US, and China at the Livadia Palace in Crimea, the site of the 1945 Yalta Conference. He suggested the venue for Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Xi Jinping. Sheremet argued that Livadia, steeped in shared history, is ideal for such an event, contrasting it with Trump's earlier proposal to host the meeting in China. He stated the meeting could break stereotypes of a unipolar world and confrontation. The 1945 Yalta Conference at the palace involved the leaders of the USSR, the UK, and the US. Its decisions shaped the post-war world order and divided spheres of influence between the West and the Soviet Union.
