Ukraine and Russia agree to resume US-brokered trilateral talks

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukraine and Russia have agreed to resume trilateral negotiations with the United States to end the war, following talks in Oslo and St. Petersburg, according to Axios. US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner proposed a technical-level trilateral meeting between Washington, Moscow, and Kyiv. Ukrainian officials approved the proposal in Oslo, and Russian officials agreed in St. Petersburg. Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov said the talks could occur in Abu Dhabi in early November, focusing on a post-conflict security system for both countries. The White House hopes Putin will show greater willingness to compromise after President Trump agreed to lift sanctions on diesel fuel sales. So far, Putin's only apparent concession is agreeing to negotiate. Ukrainian President Zelensky stated Kyiv is ready for a peace deal freezing hostilities along the current front line.
