Zelenskiy backs trilateral talks with US and Russia by early November
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced support for a trilateral meeting with the United States and Russia, ideally by early November, following US envoy Steve Witkoff's talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelenskiy said the American side proposed the negotiator-level meeting and that Kyiv is in contact with US partners to ensure it happens as soon as possible. He confirmed Russia supports the trilateral format, and Kyiv backs proposals for a ceasefire, ending the war, and humanitarian initiatives. The Kremlin said Putin has agreed to resume US-mediated peace talks next month. Witkoff met Zelenskiy in Norway before visiting St Petersburg, amid Ukrainian and allied concerns that Washington was distancing itself from Kyiv.
