Trump Blames Ukraine for Lack of Peace Deal with Russia
President Donald Trump again blamed Ukraine for the failure to reach an agreement to end the war with Russia, stating that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must have the will to settle the conflict or "things will go very badly." Speaking at the White House, Trump repeated his pressure on Kyiv, saying Ukraine could have secured a better deal in March 2025 and that Russia is a "big machine" that keeps advancing. He also claimed high diesel prices result from the war, blaming Kyiv while noting the US and Europe have spent a fortune. Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff is scheduled to visit St. Petersburg on Wednesday for talks, following Zelenskyy's statement in Oslo that Ukraine wants negotiations but Russia must also agree.
