Russian Strike on Kyiv Data Center Worsens Ukraine's Energy Crisis
A Russian missile attack on Kyiv overnight killed a 21-year-old woman and injured eight others, damaging residential buildings, railway infrastructure, and a medical center, according to local authorities. The attack forced the temporary closure of two metro stations and halted services at a medical center after blast waves shattered over 200 windows. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that over 10 energy facilities were damaged across 11 regions, leaving at least 550,000 households without power. Ukraine launched drone strikes on oil storage facilities, a logistics hub, and a data center in and around St. Petersburg, causing fires and one death. Zelenskyy noted Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy sector 76 times since the US announced an "energy ceasefire" on October 11.
