Zelensky: Starlink restrictions remain despite Trump's claims

svoboda.org (Russian) —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on October 23 that restrictions on Starlink and its military version Starshield remain in place, contradicting U.S. President Donald Trump's claim that full access had been restored. The connection still drops when terminals move at high speeds. Speaking via video link to the Hudson Institute, Zelensky said Ukrainian specialists tested the system in civilian areas and near the front line, finding that communication fails at speeds around 161 kilometers per hour. He expressed hope that SpaceX and the U.S. administration would remove the technical limit. The issues began on October 14, complicating drone operations and logistics. Trump promised on October 23 to address the problems, while Ukraine signed a letter of intent with Finnish firms ICEYE and Nokia to develop alternative satellite communication infrastructure.
