Ukraine schedules power outages for October 23 after Russian strikes
Ukraine will impose scheduled power outages across all consumer categories on Friday, October 23, from 06:00 to 23:59, due to the aftermath of Russian strikes on energy infrastructure. Industrial power limits will also apply during the same period. The restrictions, announced by Ukrenergo, will affect between one and two outage queues. Overnight and morning Russian attacks targeted energy facilities in the Poltava, Volyn, and Rivne regions, causing new disruptions in six additional oblasts and killing one energy worker in Kharkiv. Ukrenergo warned the situation may change and urged consumers to monitor regional distribution operator announcements. Energy expert Yuriy Korolchuk projected winter outages could last at least 12 hours daily nationwide, potentially reaching 20 hours in worst-case regional scenarios.
