ICEYE and Nokia sign Ukraine space tech agreement

nl.investing.com (Dutch) —

ICEYE and Nokia signed a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine's Defense Ministry on Thursday to explore space technology cooperation, focusing on sovereign satellite communication systems to support Ukraine's defense capabilities. The agreement was announced during the Finnish prime minister's visit to Ukraine. The companies earlier this month partnered to develop secure broadband satellite systems in low Earth orbit for governments, designed for defense, border surveillance, emergency services, and disaster response missions. The jointly developed systems would give countries ownership and control over satellites, ground infrastructure, and terminals using European technology. ICEYE has supported Ukraine since 2022, and Nokia said satellite networks expand connectivity when ground networks are disrupted.
