Finland and Ukraine sign satellite tech and energy deals
Ukraine and Finland have signed seven new cooperation agreements, including expanded access to Finnish satellite technology for Ukraine, announced Thursday during Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's visit to Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on X that Finnish companies Nokia and Iceye are involved in the satellite capability deal, calling it "important for our defense and Ukraine's resilience." Finland will also donate ten diesel locomotives from a retired train fleet, along with energy equipment and funds to protect the energy sector. The agreements were finalized during Orpo's Thursday visit to Kyiv, with Zelenskyy describing the additional locomotives and energy support as "real and significant assistance" for Ukraine's ongoing defense efforts.
