Moscow airports restrict flights after drone attack

24tv.ua (Russian) —

Moscow imposed restrictions at all four of its airports on October 23 following a drone attack, with Russian authorities claiming to have shot down 11 unmanned aerial vehicles. The measures were introduced to ensure flight safety. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that Russian air defense destroyed eight drones heading toward the capital from 1:30 PM Moscow time, later reporting three more intercepted. The claims have not been independently verified. Dozens of aircraft were forced to circle while awaiting landing, including a special flight unit plane used for Vladimir Putin's travel and an Airbus A380 from Dubai. Passengers at Sheremetyevo were moved to shelters, with debris reportedly found on airport grounds.
