Russian strikes kill 4 in Kyiv after US envoy meets Putin

aljazeera.com —

Russian strikes on Kyiv killed at least four people and injured dozens, including four children, overnight into Thursday, Ukraine's emergency service said, as attacks also hit other regions. The strikes damaged metro infrastructure at the Pivdenny Bridge, and two people were killed in a market attack in Lozova, with additional deaths in Kramatorsk and the Dnipropetrovsk region. Russia reported 630 Ukrainian drones launched, with most intercepted, wounding two in Moscow. The attacks followed US envoy Steve Witkoff's meeting with President Vladimir Putin in St Petersburg, where Russia released US teacher Stephen Hubbard as a goodwill gesture. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said "appeasement" will not end the war, while Putin has rejected direct talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
