Ukraine and Finland sign satellite and rail deals worth 300 million euros
Ukraine has reached agreements with Finnish companies Nokia and ICEYE to expand satellite capabilities for defense needs, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced following talks with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. The companies signed a letter of intent with Ukraine's Defense Ministry to cooperate on space projects, potentially creating a Ukrainian satellite communication system for defense. This includes developing secure broadband satellite communications on low Earth orbit with state control over satellites, ground infrastructure, and terminals. Ukraine and Finland signed seven documents totaling 300 million euros, covering logistics and energy sectors. Finland will deliver 10 locomotives to Ukrainian Railways, as Russia has destroyed or damaged over 500 locomotives in the past 1.5 years.
