Ukraine reports Starlink speed limits persist despite Trump's assurance
Ukrainian officials said Friday that speed restrictions on Starlink communication systems remain in place, contradicting US President Donald Trump's claim that services had been fully restored. Five officials confirmed limits disrupting drone connections above 160 km per hour persist. The caps have been active since October 13 amid deteriorating Kyiv-Washington relations. Serhiy Beskrestnov, adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said no lifting of limits is observed, with faster speeds only occurring in isolated cases due to SpaceX algorithms or usage conditions. The restrictions followed Trump's deal to buy Russian diesel, waived sanctions on Moscow, and calls for Zelenskiy's replacement. Ukrainian officials say the limits hamper drone operations against Russian attacks and along the front line, with embassy official Denys Sienik stating "nothing has changed" as of Friday.
