Kyiv counts the cost after a devastating night of Russian missile and drone strikes
A massive Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv overnight caused widespread destruction across six districts, including residential buildings, a hypermarket, and a monastery, leaving dead and wounded. The city is now assessing the damage and beginning recovery efforts. The attack involved 21 missiles, including Iskander-M, S-400, Zircon, and Oniks types, plus 210 Shahed drones. A ballistic missile destroyed a home in the Dnipro district, killing a man, while a large fire consumed a hypermarket in Obolon. Explosive ordnance teams recovered a warhead near homes in Pechersk. Local authorities and volunteers have set up humanitarian aid points, distributing water, food, and plywood to cover broken windows. The city administration has decided to close the Pivdennyi Bridge during future air raid alerts in both directions.
