Ukraine tightens cybersecurity for state services after Russian attacks

podrobnosti.ua (Ukrainian) —

The Ukrainian government plans to strengthen cybersecurity for state institutions. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi ordered all executive branch leaders to urgently create cybersecurity teams, purchase necessary software, and deploy it. Koretskyi stated Russia systematically attacks Ukraine's digital infrastructure, similar to energy facilities. In September alone, ten data centers in Kyiv were damaged, and a recent strike hit a data center serving 90 settlements. Russia is intensifying attacks using artificial intelligence, targeting state information systems and businesses. Key digital agencies already have experience countering AI-assisted attacks, and Koretskyi expects similar readiness from all institutions. Russian forces began regular data center attacks in September, including a September 23 drone strike damaging equipment belonging to Kyiv providers "Pavutyna" and Utels, disrupting internet access for about 100,000 subscribers.
