Ukraine says Starlink speed limits remain despite Trump's denial
Ukrainian officials said Friday that speed restrictions on SpaceX's Starshield service remain in place for Ukraine, contradicting President Donald Trump's claim that access had been restored. The limits affect drones moving faster than 100 mph, disrupting military operations. Ukraine's deputy ambassador to the U.S., Denys Sienik, said "nothing has changed" as of Friday, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the speed has not been restored. Trump said Thursday that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk had fixed the issue, but acknowledged Friday he had not spoken with Musk, adding he would if service is not repaired. Ukrainian sources report drones lose connection for 10 to 15 seconds at a time, causing significant asset losses. Officials first reported the restrictions on Oct. 13, and four Democratic senators have requested explanations from SpaceX by Nov. 2. Musk has stated the U.S. government controls Starshield limits.
