Ukraine says US withheld warning of Russian strikes; NATO and EU push back
Ukraine has accused the US of failing to provide advance warning of Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure, a claim NATO and the EU have disputed. President Zelenskyy said the strikes were detected only as missiles approached Kyiv. Russian attacks hit all three thermal power plants in Kyiv, killing five people in the capital and two in the Dnipropetrovsk region, leaving at least 600,000 without power. Ukrainian officials also reported severe restrictions on the Starlink satellite system, which they said hindered defensive operations. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said US President Trump assured him intelligence sharing has not stopped, and the EU reported no signs of a halt. The US denied any policy change, though relations remain tense amid reports Washington threatened to cut data sharing.
