Ukraine peace talks begin in Oslo with Zelenskyy and US envoy
Peace talks on the Ukraine war have begun in Oslo, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy meeting US special envoy Steve Witkoff, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb at the Norwegian PM's residence. The leaders first held private talks, with Jared Kushner joining remotely, before expanding to include the Norwegian and Finnish leaders. A press conference is scheduled for around 7 PM. Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson called Trump's statements on Ukraine "harmful," attributing them to midterm election politics. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed hope for a meeting with Witkoff soon, expecting him to relay Ukrainian and European positions to President Putin. Zelenskyy also spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio about anti-ballistic systems, early warning systems, and restoring Starlink satellite restrictions.
