Russia to ship first diesel cargo to US on Thursday
Russia will send its first diesel cargo of 40,000 metric tons to the United States on Thursday, following a deal between President Donald Trump and Russian officials to resume fuel exports. The shipment comes after Russia lifted its diesel export ban on Oct 9, which was imposed to address domestic shortages caused by Ukrainian drone attacks on refineries. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed the delivery, stating additional shipments will follow to meet US needs. US special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, thanking him for lifting export restrictions. Putin noted global diesel prices dropped 5-6 percent after the agreement, with further tanker deliveries planned and potential fertilizer exports to the US.
