EU to join Ukraine peace talks in November
The European Union will send senior officials from the Council and Commission to the next multilateral peace talks on Ukraine, expected to take place in November, a spokesperson announced today. Spokesperson Arianna Podestà confirmed the EU's participation in the upcoming high-level talks, stating the format will be similar to previous negotiations held in Miami. The announcement follows a diplomatic round in Oslo that included Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US envoy Steve Witkoff. The Oslo meeting continued discussions from early October in Miami, and Witkoff subsequently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. Putin has agreed to resume US-mediated peace negotiations in November, though differences remain on timing and terms. The EU aims to secure a "just and lasting peace" for Ukraine.
