Zelensky warns Russia may intensify ballistic strikes as Patriot interceptors run low
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia may intensify ballistic missile strikes due to a shortage of interceptors for American-made Patriot air defense systems. Zelensky made the remarks during a joint press conference with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, saying Russia understands the US has reduced Patriot missile deliveries and will therefore increase attacks. On October 16, he noted Ukraine still faces an interceptor deficit, though European partners hold enough PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles to help protect the sky through winter. On October 18, Zelensky accused US President Donald Trump of pressuring Ukraine toward capitulation to Russia and of delaying Patriot interceptor shipments.
