Russian diesel tanker heads to New York after Trump-Putin deal
The first tanker carrying 40,000 tons of Russian diesel has departed for New York following an agreement between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin to resume fuel exports to the US. Arrival is expected on November 7. The Malta-flagged vessel Agioi Fanendes was loaded on October 22 at the Russian Baltic port of Primorsk with ultra-low-sulfur diesel, according to Reuters and LSEG data. Trump announced on October 9 that Russia would initially export 300,000 tons, followed by 500,000 tons in November and an additional million tons later. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said monthly diesel exports could reach 3–3.5 million tons by year-end, restoring normal supply volumes. Russia had previously banned diesel exports but agreed to lift it under the Trump-Putin arrangement.
