Macron pitches Trump on oil, Ukraine initiatives at UN meeting

Proposals included securing maritime traffic in the strait, through which 20% of global hydrocarbon trade passes, and a "strictly defensive" approach to protecting Saudi energy infrastructure from Houthi attacks. Macron also discussed accelerating support for Ukraine with interceptor missiles and possible moratoriums on energy strikes. The meeting lasted about half an hour, with France seeking to maintain US pressure on Russia and involvement in European security negotiations.
