Trump to address UN as Iran war shakes global economy and AI fears rise
President Donald Trump is set to address the UN General Assembly on Tuesday amid global economic turmoil from his decision to launch a war against Iran, surging anxiety over artificial intelligence's social impact, and questions about the UN's future due to his scaling back US financial support. After his speech, Trump is expected to hold talks with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez. He will also meet with Gulf Cooperation Council leaders to discuss the Iran war and recent attacks by Iran-backed rebels on Saudi Arabia. The war has killed much of Iran's leadership and destroyed its military, but oil prices remain elevated near $100 per barrel. Trump's administration is also set to sign an agreement with Denmark and Greenland to expand the US military footprint on Greenland.
