Zelensky meets Macron in New York ahead of Trump talks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in New York with the First Lady for the UN General Assembly, meeting French President Emmanuel Macron on his first day. A meeting with Donald Trump is scheduled for September 22, with about 20 total engagements planned. Zelensky discussed security and a winter support package with Macron, including additional SAMP/T air defense systems and missiles funded through an EU loan. Macron confirmed France and G7 support for Ukraine's energy sector and said he discussed with Trump an energy ceasefire and Black Sea moratorium. Macron also met Trump at Trump Tower on September 21, discussing the Middle East and joint action on Hormuz Strait navigation. Zelensky thanked US senators for the Lindsey Graham law and reiterated Ukraine's need for ballistic interceptor missiles.
