Trump meets Venezuela's interim president for first time since Maduro's capture

President Donald Trump met with Venezuela's interim President Delcy Rodríguez at the UN General Assembly, their first face-to-face meeting since the US backed her to lead the country after Nicolás Maduro was seized. Rodríguez succeeded Maduro following a US raid in Caracas that captured him. Maduro is now jailed in New York awaiting trial on drug trafficking charges. The two leaders discussed cooperation in energy, mining, and security, with US officials also attending. Rodríguez's government has granted a US-led company 100-year concessions over 17 oilfields, controlling over 65 billion barrels of oil. Trump called it "the biggest oil deal in world history." Rodríguez, formerly Maduro's vice-president, was sworn in with White House support after US sanctions on her were lifted.
