Ukraine's defense forces shot down a Russian Geran-5 cruise missile using the SPYS interceptor drone, with video of the successful interception published by the GAU community on X. The SPYS drone, developed by the German-Ukrainian joint venture Quantum WIY Industries, is still undergoing combat trials. It has a 300-gram warhead, a 12-kilometer range, and a five-minute flight time, with the interception occurring at approximately 200 km/h. The drone can hit targets traveling up to 600 km/h and uses Ukrainian-made motors from Motor-G. Ukraine is deploying new high-speed interceptor drones, including the Sting S from Wild Hornets, to counter Russian jet-powered attack drones.
