Russia, US, Ukraine to hold trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi

jpost.com —

Russian diplomats and senior military officials will join trilateral talks with the US and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday and Wednesday, marking the first such meeting since February, the Kremlin confirmed Saturday. The Russian delegation, led by chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky, will include Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and senior General Staff officer Yuri Zhigarlovsky, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. Ryabkov handles arms control and Iran-related issues, while Zhigarlovsky oversees military planning and operations. All delegation members met with President Vladimir Putin on Friday at a Security Council meeting partly devoted to the talks. The last US-mediated peace discussions occurred in February, just before the US and Israel went to war with Iran.
