Russia strikes Kyiv's power grid as winter nears, sparking Zelenskyy-Klitschko feud
Russia launched new missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, causing power outages in Kyiv and other regions as winter approaches. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy and Kyiv Mayor Klitschko are publicly disputing over defense preparations. The attacks damaged residential buildings, a kindergarten, and a key bridge over the Dnipro River in Kyiv. Mayor Klitschko reported "extremely difficult" electricity supply conditions, with water and heating systems also affected. Zelenskyy described it as a "combined" assault involving 36 missiles and over 170 drones. The death toll from a Russian bombing of a humanitarian aid distribution point in Komyshuvakha rose to 55. Talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the US are planned next week in the UAE, though German Defense Minister Pistorius expressed little hope for a quick ceasefire.
