Russian strike on Ukrainian aid point kills 53 in Zaporizhzhia region
The death toll from Russia's bombing of an aid distribution point in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region has risen to 53, making it one of the deadliest strikes on civilians this year, the acting regional governor said Friday. Acting Governor Mykhailo Semikin said on Telegram that search and rescue work at the site in the village of Komyshuvakha had entered its fifth day. Ukraine's Emergency Service had earlier reported a toll of 50, with operations continuing despite difficult conditions and the constant threat of repeat Russian strikes. The attack occurred Monday at the aid point in southeastern Ukraine. The rising casualty count underscores the ongoing danger to civilians in the region, with rescue efforts hampered by the risk of further bombardment.
