EU Raises Concerns Over Trump Security Deal With Russia
The EU has expressed concerns over the Trump administration's proposed Europe-wide security agreement with Russia, with NATO allies saying they were not informed beforehand, according to Politico. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stated Europe has its own security architecture and stressed the need to integrate Ukraine into it, adding that Putin has no veto over European security. Three NATO diplomats confirmed allies were not briefed on the US plans, leaving many skeptical of the initiative. A senior advisor to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned the Trump team underestimated the conflict's importance to Europe. Some allies fear the US may link the initiative to a December review of American troops in Europe.
