Zelensky warns against premature Europe-Russia security talks

ua.korrespondent.net (Ukrainian) —

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that discussing a new European security framework with Russia before the war ends and Ukraine's security guarantees are defined is dangerous. He stated this in a CNN interview published on Saturday, November 7. Zelensky insisted that partners must first address ending Russia's war against Ukraine, then determine Ukraine's security guarantees, and only afterward discuss Europe-Russia security infrastructure. He called Russia's push for such talks premature and more dangerous for the European Union, rejecting any "Yalta 2.0" division of Europe. The White House, with Ukraine, NATO, and European allies, is developing a broader continental security architecture based on five key goals and full respect for sovereign alliance choices, according to special envoy Jared Kushner. President Donald Trump previously announced a large, "beautiful" deal to end the war, extending beyond Ukraine.
