Ukrainian Navy Strikes Russian Proton Plant in Oryol, Hitting Missile Component Production
Ukraine's Navy struck the Russian Proton-Electrotex plant in Oryol with Neptune missiles overnight on Saturday, November 7, the General Staff reported. A hit and fire were confirmed, with damage assessment ongoing. The plant is a leading Russian manufacturer of optoelectronic equipment, producing components for Kh-59 cruise missiles and 9M723 ballistic missiles for Iskander-M systems. The strike aims to complicate Russian missile production used against Ukraine. Russian governor Andrei Klychkov claimed production facilities in the Sovetsky district were "partially damaged" during the repelled mass attack. The General Staff noted the strike will hinder the supply of missile components.
