Russian missile waves target Kyiv after Zelensky warning
Russian forces launched multiple waves of ballistic missile attacks against Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, in the early hours of Saturday, hours after President Volodymyr Zelensky warned of an impending large-scale Russian assault on infrastructure. At least three people were injured in the strikes. The first barrage began just before 11 p.m. Friday, with Ukraine's Air Force reporting at least six missiles fired within minutes. Further waves followed around midnight and after 1 a.m., with explosions reported in the city and suburbs. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported damage to residential buildings, a kindergarten, and a non-residential structure, with emergency services deployed to the affected sites. The attacks are part of Russia's annual campaign against Ukraine's power grid, which has left Kyiv residents with only two hours of electricity daily. The city suffered its worst energy infrastructure damage this year on November 3, causing widespread power and water outages.
