Russia Strikes Kyiv Energy Grid; Germany Rules Out More Patriot Systems

ilsole24ore.com (Italian) —

Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine overnight, striking energy infrastructure in Kyiv and other regions with dozens of ballistic missiles and over 170 drones, damaging power facilities, residential buildings, and a key road bridge. The strikes complicate electricity, water, and heating supplies as temperatures approach freezing. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated Germany cannot provide more Patriot systems to Ukraine, saying current transfers would create gaps that cannot be afforded in the short term. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of intensifying pressure ahead of trilateral talks with the US scheduled for November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi. Ukrainian authorities reported at least two deaths and 37 injuries from the attacks. The strikes also targeted substations transporting power from two nuclear plants in western Ukraine, while the North Bridge and a kindergarten in Kyiv were damaged.
