Zelenskyy seeks written Western security guarantees for postwar Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is pressing Western allies for specific, written security guarantees defining post-war support if Russia attacks again, following Brussels talks on reconstruction and security. Zelenskyy stated the guarantees must clearly outline who would respond, with what means, and when, emphasizing the need for tangible results on paper. The discussions involved U.S., U.K., French, German, and EU officials, alongside the World Bank and BlackRock, ahead of trilateral peace talks in Abu Dhabi. The appeal comes as Russia launched 227 drones overnight and the death toll from a guided bomb strike on an aid center rose to 53. Zelenskyy also suggested Democratic midterm victories could boost U.S. assistance, while President Trump met with a Moscow envoy.
