Trump announces 'big' Ukraine deal after talks with Russia
US President Donald Trump has announced a "big" deal with Russia regarding the Ukraine war, following a meeting with a Kremlin negotiator in Washington. Trump stated the agreement could affect all of Europe and that "everyone will be thrilled." The trilateral talks between Ukraine, Russia, and the US are scheduled for November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has demanded "steel-reinforced" security guarantees ahead of the negotiations, while also criticizing the US for withholding Patriot missile deliveries. The conflict, which began with Russia's invasion on February 24, 2022, has seen intensified Russian attacks on Kyiv and Ukrainian infrastructure. An estimated 400,000 Russian and 150,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since the invasion began, according to the CSIS research institute.
