Ukrainian Neptune missiles strike Russian Proton plant in Orel

ua.korrespondent.net (Ukrainian) —

Ukrainian missile forces struck the Proton-Electrotex plant in Orel, Russia, with Neptune coastal missile systems overnight Saturday, causing a fire and explosions, according to Ukraine's General Staff. The strike aims to disrupt Russian production of components for cruise and ballistic missiles used against Ukrainian cities. The plant manufactures optoelectronic equipment, including modules for Kh-59 cruise missiles and inverter switches for 9M723 ballistic missiles used in Iskander-M systems. Ukrainian military officials stated the damage complicates production of missile components, with the full extent of damage still being assessed. Separately, drones attacked an oil refinery in Saratov, Russia, overwhelming anti-drone nets, while the Afipsky refinery in Krasnodar Krai was set ablaze the previous day. These strikes are part of ongoing Ukrainian efforts to degrade Russian military infrastructure.
