EU to Decide Its Own Security Ahead of Ukraine Talks
The European Commission stated that the European Union will decide on its own security matters, ahead of US-mediated Russia-Ukraine talks scheduled for next week in Abu Dhabi. A Commission spokesperson emphasized this principle amid concerns over potential US pressure. Spokesperson Paula Pinho said everyone hopes for a peace agreement soon, but much work remains. The talks are set for November 10-11 under American mediation, with President Trump having promised a "very big" deal that "may include all of Europe." A summit was held in Brussels yesterday with NATO, US, Ukrainian, European country, and EU representatives to promote a fair and sustainable end to the war. The EU is not participating in the Abu Dhabi talks.
