Zhytomyr Region Reimposes Blackout Rules After Russian Drone Strikes

obozrevatel.com (Russian) —

The Ovruch substation in Ukraine's Zhytomyr region was completely destroyed by Russian drone strikes, prompting local authorities to reimpose blackout regulations. Mayor Ivan Korud announced the measure on November 7, warning that restored power does not mean the threat has passed. Korud urged all residents and businesses to strictly follow blackout rules during evening and nighttime hours, including turning off exterior lighting, advertising displays, and facade illumination. He emphasized that power restoration will take considerable time and that every visible light should be switched off for community safety. The move follows significant damage to the region's energy system from Russian attacks. Zhytomyr city has also halted electric transport and introduced economical street lighting, while residents are asked to limit appliance use during peak hours.
