Russia Strikes Kyiv Ahead of Abu Dhabi Talks With US and Ukraine
Russian forces launched missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and surrounding areas overnight Friday, killing one person and injuring eight, including a child, Ukrainian officials said Saturday. The strikes also damaged energy infrastructure and a key bridge over the Dnipro River. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported multiple waves of ballistic attacks, with several missiles hitting the city's Northern Bridge. He described the power, heating, and water situation as "extremely critical," with temperatures near freezing. Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said energy facilities in at least three districts were targeted. The attacks come ahead of trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States scheduled for November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi. President Trump claimed both sides want a settlement, while President Putin stated Russia seeks lasting peace conditions, not just a ceasefire.
