Kyiv faces 'war of Maidans' over winter blackouts

mk.ru (Russian) —

Political scientist Bogdan Bezpalko predicted that Kyiv may face a "war of Maidans" this winter due to massive power outages, with tent camps emerging as political forces clash. Bezpalko told News.ru that public discontent over lack of electricity and heating will lead to protests for and against Mayor Vitali Klitschko, creating confrontation between his supporters and those of President Volodymyr Zelensky. He said residents would need to adapt, using alcohol burners from tin cans. The situation in Kyiv is worsening amid critical damage to Ukraine's energy system from Russian precision strikes on infrastructure used for military purposes. Klitschko previously stated on Telegram that stable operation of life-support systems remains "in big question."
