Russian strikes on Kyiv region wound five, damage bridge and energy grid
Russian strikes on the Kyiv region overnight injured five people, including a child, and damaged a bridge and energy facilities, according to local authorities. The attack disrupted heating and water supplies in the capital. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the Pivnichnyi Bridge was damaged and closed to traffic, with five vehicles also hit by the blast wave. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned of further strikes on energy infrastructure and renewed calls for Patriot interceptor missiles. The US recently approved a $2.1 billion package of Patriot PAC-3 interceptors, but Zelenskyy said delivery could take years. Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine's power grid during winter since its full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
